The Journalist's Handbook for Online Editing($85.40Value)

Description

An editing handbook that puts the Web first   The authors explore the dynamic, interactive and evolving nature of online media. The challenge, of course, is to maintain focus on traditional editing concerns -- style, spelling, grammar and punctuation -- while offering appropriate ways for editors to deal effectively with online content. Moreover, the handbook goes far beyond online media writing and delves into issues involving audience, images, graphics, design, social media, marketing, law and ethics.   Learning Goals Upon completing this book, readers will be able to: Understand how writing for the Web differs from traditional journalism - Explore the extensive opportunities available to online media - Identify and deliver content for online audiences - Learn effective ways to edit text, images and design in an online environment It's difficult today to write a new book on editing. Most of the same demands of traditional editors continue to be true for online editors. However, adding online has done much more than just offer another platform to deliver the current media products. All the evidence suggests that online demands different forms for an audience who has much greater freedom to interact with media on its own terms. As such, today's editors must be even more effective at their jobs; their once-captive audience has more media options than ever to enjoy. Fortunately, today's online editors also have more options than ever to deliver varied, exciting and effective content. Meeting the demands of audience in the content-rich online environment is one of the chief goals of The Journalist's Handbook for Online Editing . Kenneth L.
