James Christopher Boydston was born July 21, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree in 1971 from the University of Texas, where he was a lutenist and guitarist with Collegium Musicum. From 1972 to 1973 he taught with the classical guitar Extension division of the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston. He has arranged Scott Joplin's The Entertainer for classical guitar and has composed and recorded Wedding Music for Classical Guitar. Boydston is the inventor of the classical guitar bridge-saddle, and the author of original poetry included in The World of Poetry Anthology (1991).
