Every child has experienced a time when they made a bad choice in their behavior. The young boy in "Today I'll Be Good" is no different. He makes a few bad choices while in school and has to face the consequences of his behavior. His father sets him straight and encourages the boy to do a better job at school. Written in lyrical rhyme, this lovely story will ring true to young readers who will also enjoy the wonderful illustrations. This book is sure to be a favorite for kids young and old. Terri Kelley has a gift for creating children's books that are both realistic and fun at the same time. In Today, I'll Be Good, kids learn to tackle minor behavioral issues without realizing that they are learning at all. One thing I love about Terri's stories is that she portrays diverse families very well. In this particular story, the main character only has a dad. We don't know if he's a single dad, a stay-at-home dad, or one of a same-sex couple pairing, but I enjoyed that Terri is making it more accepted and "normal" to have one parent take care of a child. Very cool in my book! I wrote Today, I'll Be Good because, as a teacher, I often saw children who wanted to be good but who just didn't know what to do. In this story, the main character finds that there are consequences for every choice, good and bad. My hope with this and with all of my books is that children will learn the concept I am covering without feeling like it has been forced on them. I know that children learn more when they are having fun. The reviews on this book are fantastic. About the Author Terri Kelley, M.Ed, is the author of the series of Writing Is a Process books, many other children's picture books, as well as of the chapter book series, Gingerly. Her passion for writing and reading began when she was a very young girl. She was raised in Copperas Cove, Texas where she grew up in the country with horses and lots of freedom to explore her environment. It was a idyllic childhood. Terri is the mother of three. Her kids are all grown now and living happy and responsible lives of their own. Terri raised her kids in Granbury, TX and Tomball, TX. Both of these communities offered excellent schools and a country atmosphere that Terri enjoys. Terri still has ties to both towns as well as friends in both places. As an adult, Terri has held a couple of different careers. Her first teaching job was with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, TX. Her next one was as a teacher and reading specialist in Tomball, TX. It was while she taught that she became aware of the kinds of books children enjoyed reading. She also noticed areas in need of good children's books. You will find many of her books respond to these needs. Terri is very happily married to her best friend, Michael. Together, they live in Oakridge, OR with their black Labrador, Oliver. Terri and Michael enjoy traveling together, fishing, going to the movies, and, of course, reading great books. They have many good friends with whom they enjoy spending time as well. If you would like to write to Terri, please visit her author's bookstore at www.terrikelleybooks.com or send an email to terri@terrikelleybooks.com. She will make every effort to reply to your email as soon as she is able. Thank you and happy reading!
