All Emotions Matter is a story about five emotions – Anger, Sadness, Fear, Joy and Love. The emotions spend their first day at elementary school learning a lot about each other and having fun. One of the emotions is unique and gets rejected by the other emotions for being different. However, during music class, the other emotions run into a problem that they cannot resolve. The unfamiliar emotion, despite being shunned, comes to their rescue, and the whole school rejoices. The emotions unite and learn a valuable lesson that differences, more than similarities, are needed to solve complex problems. The emotions also realize that to understand and appreciate experiences that are different from theirs, they need to pay attention to each emotion’s unique problem. All Emotions Matter is a story that inspires children to open up about the many emotions they experience through a variety of real-life situations. Thoughtful and funny combined with whimsical illustrations, parents/teachers can use this book to encourage a healthy discussion with their children/students involving emotions, feelings and behavior. FOREWORD As a psychiatrist, it is all too familiar to see teens unable or unwilling to share their emotions with parents. What if everyone learnt to name their emotions in childhood and their parents knew the power of validating them? Imagine my delight when a children's book that has the potential to deliver just that. All Emotions Matter is a simple yet lovely introduction to emotions that educates and validates. Using endearing illustrations, Sreekanth's book shows children that they must overcome inclinations to isolate or exclude when we are not feeling our best. We are left with the message that being vulnerable and authentic is the road to bringing out the best in ourselves and others. I hope that parents and teachers find All Emotions Matter to be valuable in building emotional literacy in the next generation of children. Vikas, MD, PhD, DFAPA (Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association) CUSTOMER REVIEWS All Emotions Matter was chosen for all elementary school classrooms (more than 550 students in K-3) and every faculty/staff member in the Irvington school district in NY. This book fostered emotional vocabulary as well as empathy and the importance of communicating feelings and connectedness. In addition, All Emotions Matter was selected as the school-wide choice for the school year's World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) I love that this book teaches children to identify their emotions based on situations and when they experience different emotions, it's ok. I have seen too many children's books label an emotion as good or bad (like happy is good but angry is bad.) Children and adults are sometimes too quick to label a child as good or bad based on their emotions on a certain day. Kids go through a rainbow of emotions during their developmental years. As a parent, it's important to help my children realize that everyone has bad days. Helping them understand and accept their emotions is the first step towards becoming self-aware and allowing them to be kind to not just others but themselves too. This book helps with that and more. Taking a complex topic like emotions, simplifying it and explaining it in a school setting wrapped around a story involving music and singing. BRAVO!!!!!!! My children want to read it every day. This book is a keeper and going to be on my bookshelves for a long time. I have read multiple children's books on emotions, many with awards and a ton of positive reviews, but they are either too simple or unnecessarily telling a child how to handle the emotions. Every child is unique - there cannot be a cookie-cutter way to handle emotions and feelings. All Emotions Matter book is not preachy and instead encourages children to open up and talk about their feelings and emotions. Emotions are all about personal stories and paths, and this story definitely delivers that message with beautiful illustrations. I loved this book!!!!! There is one particular page that is outstanding (warning - spoiler alert!!!) Love tried to play many musical instruments in vain, loved music but couldn't connect with any instrument, and ended up falling in love with singing. As an elementary school teacher, I see parents and sometimes children forcing themselves to learn a musical instrument. Just this one page can be a story of its own - a musical journey, a sports journey, an education journey or any journey does not have to follow the same path - the author does a great job emphasizing it. KUDOS!!! Amazing book, just like the first two! Thank you for continuing to remind all of us, regardless of age, what's truly important in life. Thank you for giving me a preview. All emotions matter is definitely your best!! What is great about this book is. It will provide many adults who are not so comfortable talking about emotions a wonderful vehicle to explore this critical area
