Rooster Spur Chile Pepper - 25 Seeds - Heirloom & Open-Pollinated Variety, USA-Grown Chili Seeds, Non-GMO Vegetable Seeds for Planting Indoors or($9.99Value)
Historic Southern Heirloom – Rooster Spur is an old family heirloom pepper donated to Seed Savers Exchange by Virgil T. Ainsworth of Laurel, Mississippi. Grown by the Ainsworth family for over a century, this treasured variety was traditionally used to make the famous Rooster Spur Sausage. Productive & Attractive Plants – Plants are sprawling and highly branched, producing dense clusters of small, one to two-inch peppers that blanket the tops like bright red ornaments. So beautiful, they're becoming a popular accent for floral arrangements. Versatile & Very Hot – These firm, fiery peppers are ideal for pickling whole, crafting homemade hot sauces, or drying and grinding into a cayenne-style powder. Their heat level and flavor make them a standout among traditional Southern hot peppers. Safe Seed Promise – We aim to offer the best tomato seeds available. Our chemical-free, USA-grown, non GMO seeds are regularly tested to ensure at least 85% germination. Whether you like to get a head start indoors or you're looking for tomato seeds for planting outdoors after the last frost, you can be confident that your heirloom tomato seeds will get off to a quick start. Should you encounter any problems, we'll happily make it right. We want to help make your garden a success. Convenient Packaging – Durable packet protects seeds from light and moisture, extending the survival of the seeds by years. Resealable zipper tops make for convenient storage and planting. Sow what you need today, seal and store the rest for later. Your gardening seeds will remain viable on the shelf for years. A great choice for off grid living supplies, emergency preparedness seed vaults and an excellent way to keep your seed bank fresh and organized. (Capsicum annuum) Healthy plants blanketed by tons of 1-2" red and green peppers which resemble little Christmas lights. So pretty, they could pass as an ornamental, but they offer more than beauty. Crisp with just enough heat for the average chile fan--Rooster Spur peppers have become one of our favorites for pickling whole. I just make a small cut in the side to allow the brine to penetrate, then drop them in whole, stem and all (you'll appreciate having a handle when you eat them.) Very hot. 95 days to harvest. 25 seeds/pkt. CULTURE: For earliest harvest, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds 1/4" deep in well-moistened, sterile seed-starting mix. The ideal temperature for pepper seed germination is 85 degrees. For best results, place a growers heat mat beneath trays until germination has occurred. Under ideal conditions, germination should occur in 10-14 days. After danger of frost has passed, set transplants 18-24" apart in rows 24-36" apart.
