Interesting Housing Method for a Barrel Connector: Utilize a clam-shell housing method. These shells are kept shut by using a little rubber grommet (included) that fits over the wire end of the housing. I recommend using some 1/2" heat shrink tubing to add a more permanent closing method to these shells: just don't over heat the plastic while doing so.

BTW: You can easily exchange the 5.5mm connector with a longer connector if needed.
