A fragrant mix of butterfly-like compact annual flowers in various bright colors that grow up to10 inches tall.

Sweet peas thrive in cool temperatures, so it's best to plant them in very late winter or early spring before the last frost.

Soak the seeds: Sweet pea seeds have a hard outer shell, which can make it difficult for water to penetrate and germinate them. To help speed up the germination process, soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before planting.

Prepare the soil: Sweet peas prefer well-drained, fertile soil mixed with compost. Make sure the soil is loose and not compacted. If the soil is too heavy, add sand or perlite to improve drainage.

Plant the seeds: Sow the sweet pea seeds 1 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart. Cover the seeds with soil and pat it down gently. If you're planting more than one row, space the rows at least 6 inches apart.

Water consistently: Sweet peas need consistent watering, especially during warm weather. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Use a watering can or gentle hose to avoid disturbing the seeds.

Provide support: Sweet peas are climbers and will need some kind of support as they grow. You can use a trellis, bamboo poles, or netting to provide support.

Protect from heat: Sweet peas prefer cool temperatures and may start to fade when the temperature goes above 65°F. If you live in a hot climate, consider planting sweet peas in a spot that gets morning sun and afternoon shade.
