Description

The novel "Lavender Diaries" is the first installment of the anthology "The Line Dwellers Series" and the revised edition of the Kindle version with a different title. It deals with the events in the fictional city of Marooni. On a doomed Wednesday afternoon, in one of Marooni's busiest towns named "The Tech Village" which is served by the Lavender line of Marooni's subway system, an accident happens in the middle of a tech park's parking lot. The lives of the town residents Mahira and Samar intersect as a result of it, and what follows, later on, is nothing but a month-long emotional turmoil where the two of them battle their long-lost inner demons and discover something deeper in the void beyond. Mahira - The siren howled about my head. The acidic ambiance in the hospital van coloured my reality with flames. I wish my leg pressed the break right. I hadn’t cried in a while, and why would I weep for a stranger? If the tears meant “It’s okay! Things are going to be fine.”, I would have cried a river. The best I could do for a hanging life was to buy it some time, and "hope" was the last way to do that. So, I yelled out loud into the ambulance driver’s ears to drive fast - faster than the godspeed Mercury himself. Samar – a holy bullet with my name on it. I’d given his mind gun the worst recoil and sent him back to the rabbit hole that he had fled. He wouldn’t have expected a hummer to break his silent catharsis. Trust me. If I hadn’t met Robin on a social event a few years back in a botanical park, both of us could have avoided this misery. Yes, "chain of events". That was my point of defence. Samar - The hummer was a necessary evil and the accident felt liberating. Boy wasn’t the blankness cathartic. The lady that I fell in love with was going to get wedding bells strung around her. For someone long lost in the sea of heartbreak, the news, despite the tremors it bore, was a boon in disguise. The Hummer signed my catharsis off. The thing that I remembered last was something nice – Sarah’s face in the middle of indecipherable yelling while I hunted for breath. Thanks to Wednesday. Robin - I walked out of her house. Angry and worried. The night was still on. Like any other romantic would say, Mahi was special, and, unlike any other romantic, I wanted to see her tear up for once. It might sound strange. But, her tears were her key to rattle the cage that she was dying to get out of.
