Although the work was rewarding, my imagination jumped into the fray and once I began experimenting with short stories, I discovered I preferred to make things up rather than recounting events.A mid-career opportunity to create a memoir for my 103-year-old grandmother led to some interesting family background, which led to a novel, then another, and the realization that while writing was my strength, fiction was my passion.I continue to experiment with novels and find that's my preferred format.
