Silliness? In God’s inerrant word? Seriously? Yes! For example… Genesis has two very different versions of Creation (Genesis 1 and 2). And a talking serpent. The third person in existence grew crops, and the fourth person in existence raised sheep. What happened to millions of years of hunting and gathering? An eighth-generation ancestor of Adam made bronze and iron tools. Didn’t the Stone Age last 3 million years or so? Sons of God took human women for wives and impregnated them. Didn’t God have just one son? God regretted making mankind, so he killed most of mankind in a flood. Nice. God had to test Abraham because he didn’t know how steadfast Abraham was. God wasn’t viewed as all-knowing or ever-present in Genesis. God came down, then went back up. It’s very clear that Genesis was cobbled together from numerous sources. Why? It’s filled with contradictions, disconnects, and repetitions. God is referred to by various names by the various writers – Yahweh, El, Elohim, El Elyon, and El Shaddai. Genesis looks nothing like it would had a real God inspired it. Or if one person had written it. Silly stories, sexism, and demented behavior, by God and by humans, abound in Genesis. It’s right there in black and white. Let me take you on a tour.
