My favorite thing about color by number is that kids can check their own work! Every space in the picture has a small problem in it, like 3 + 2 or 7 - 3. Your child solves it, finds the answer in the color key at the bottom, and colors the space that color. If the answers are right, the picture comes out right. If one is off, the colors look wrong and they go back and fix it. Nobody has to hover! This book is all addition and subtraction to 10. There are 40 pages, and they go in order from easiest to hardest: - Addition: sums to 6 - Addition: sums to 10 - Subtraction: differences to 6 - Subtraction: differences to 9 - Mixed practice within 10 Everything is 1 digit addition subtraction. No regrouping, no borrowing, just the basic addition and subtraction facts kids need before anything else in math works. Each picture has 20 to 25 problems hiding in it, so one page is real practice, not five quick answers and done. The pictures are simple and cute: a pig in overalls, a tractor, a cheeseburger, a rainbow. I made this for kindergarten, but plenty of preschoolers are ready for the first addition pages, so it works as preschool addition subtraction practice too. It is a gentle way to practice add and subtract for kids who are just starting out, and the facts in here are the elementary math facts they will use every day in first and second grade! Use it as a kindergarten math work book for morning time, quiet time, early finishers, waiting rooms, or the summer before first grade.
