More than Prayer and Praise Most Christians know that Psalms is a book of prayer and praise, but many do not realize that it also contains much prophecy concerning the suffering and glory of both Christ and the godly remnant of Israel. It is important to understand that the psalms were written under the dispensation of the Law, and that much of it has a future application to the tribulation period and Kingdom Age. The imprecatory prayers (asking God to judge your enemies, e.g., Ps. 137:7-9) fit that context (Rev. 6:9-11). Of course, there are also spiritual applications for the Body of Christ in this present age found throughout the book (Rom. 15:3-4; Eph. 5:19). Although this is not a commentary on the entire book of Psalms, the 40 psalms that were selected are a good representation of the whole book.
